New Machine Inspired through Electronics Manufacturing Makes Tissues, Could Eventually Make Full Organs

Inspired by electronics manufacturing technologies like the peck and place, a new machine because of building large tissues from living components of three-dimensional micro-tissues could persuade to the ability to produce uninjured organs. From ScienceDaily:

In this suit, the parts are not resistors and capacitors, end 3-D microtissues containing thousands to millions of course of life cells that need a constant pour of fluid to bring them nutrients and to extract waste. The new device is called ‘BioP3′ in favor of pick, place, and perfuse. A team of researchers led by Jeffrey Morgan, a Brown University bioengineer, and Dr. Andrew Blakely, a surgery equal at Rhode Island Hospital and the Warren Alpert Medical School, introduces BioP3 in a fresh paper in the journal Tissue Engineering Part C.

Because it allows meeting of larger structures from small living microtissue components, Morgan said, future versions of BioP3 may in the end make possible the manufacture of healthy organs such as livers, pancreases, or kidneys.

“For us it’s exciting for it’s a new approach to construction tissues, potentially organs, layer by layer with large, complex living parts,” uttered Morgan, professor of molecular pharmacology, science of the functions of animals and vegetables and bBiotechnology. “In contrast to 3-D bioprinting that prints some small drop at a time, our be at hand is much faster because it uses pre-assembled quickening building parts with functional shapes and a many times more cells per part.”

Morgan’s study has long focused on making individual microtissues in changeable shapes such as spheres, long rods, donut rings and honeycomb slabs. He uses a fresh micromolding technique to direct the cells to self-gather and form these complex shapes. He is a founder of the Providence startup company MicroTissues Inc., which sells such culture-making technology.

Now, the novel paper shows, there is a contrivance to build even bigger tissues ~ means of combining those living components.
