About this project

Help us stretch forth our stretch goal of $125,000. The adscititious funding will give us the fiscal estimate we need to film time-pass slowly of mycelium, giving the perspective of lifting up the forest floor to reveal the mysteries of this subterranean network.

An all-star team of artists, scientists, doctors and explorers are joining forces to be the occasion of a life-affirming, mind-bending film about the mushroom and its mysterious root-like structure: mycelium. What they communicate will blow your mind, and haply save the planet. Join us in this Year of Soils (for example declared by the United Nations) to learn besides about this critical solution for climate change.

Here’s Louie Schwartzberg and Paul Stamets discussing the pellicle:

Fantastic Fungi is an important philosophical exploration and visual journey through the foreign, little-known realm of fungi, directed by Louie Schwartzberg, an award-winning master of universe imagery, special-effects cinematography and storytelling that is one as well as the other informative and inspiring.

We begin by our cameras exploring a vast and unheard of realm. We discover fungi’s flagitiousness; the largest organism on the planet is a 2,200+ acre mycelium fungal interweave more than two thousand years of long date! We experience their beauty; our cameras apprehension jewel-like mushrooms in countless shapes and in glittering colors, from pink and yellow to calaite. And, ultimately, we realize fungi’s in posse; the film takes us on a trip that reveals mycelium as the key to the conversion of our living planet.

Mesmerizing time-misstep imagery reveals their remarkable toughness, while mushrooms power up through dead forest-land and stone-hard asphalt. As we watch fungi alter belief solid rock into soil, we clasp a key mechanism of life adhering Earth: fungi are not just decomposers, but that composers continually producing the ingredients of fresh life, sustaining our ecosystem.

But these tiny, mighty miracles don’t stop in that place. The complex chemistry of mycelium produces antibiotics potent enough to prevent many diseases and to preclude pandemics, even an E.coli or smallpox storm by terrorists. Legendary researcher Paul Stamets explains, “Our strongest existing antibiotics draw near from fungi. They fight off the like microbes we do with defenses we have power to use.”

Paul goes on to clear up that expanding fungi-generated soils about the world could absorb vast amounts of carbon dioxide and help control climate change. These organisms have power to be fantastic allies in our efforts to shelter ourselves and to rejuvenate our undivided ecosphere.

YES! An artistically-shot, scientifically-celebrate , life-affirming film about mycelium: the impossible to believe, intelligent network under our feet that has the proven might to restore our ecosystem, repair our soundness, and resurrect our symbiotic relationship to regular course of things. Fantastic Fungi aspires to be each educational, inspirational, and ultimately critical film that explores the uses and benefits of fungi in three censorious areas.

First, we uncover the examination that shows mycelium as a viable choice to western pharmacology, including treatment during breast cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, and PTSD. Second, we make known studies that point to mycelium like a solution to our gravest environmental challenges, so as toxic oil spills and colony utter failure disorder. Finally, we marvel at mycelium’s proven advance the interest of on shifting consciousness and aiding in not sharp personal transformation. The research, discoveries, and anecdotal show we’ve gathered is astounding, specifically when shared through Louie’s of the eye storytelling.
