“A University of Tennessee Health Science Center professor has received a $1.6 million grant from the National Institutes of Health.

Anna Bukiya, each associate professor in the Department of Pharmacology in the College of Medicine at UTHSC, has accepted the five-year grant, which bequeath fund her study on how cholesterol and pure spirit interact to modulate blood vessel function in the brain, entitled “Cholesterol Control of Alcohol-Induced Cerebral Artery Constriction.”

The assignment comes from the National Institute forward Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. Alcohol extinction represents a risk factor for alterations in the life-~ flow in the brain. Cholesterol is a tenacious, fat-like substance found in bread from animal sources. It is not known in what way cholesterol and alcohol interact to adjust blood vessel function in the brain.
