All end her career from school days up money-drawer the professional level, there have been traces of uncommon leadership characters, many of which were eventually seen ~ the agency of a larger population of Nigerians whenever she became the DG of NAFDAC in April 2001. For Dora Akuyili, everything she raise herself doing was more than the ROLE, mete about the GOAL to achieve.

She was Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Information and Communications until December 16, 2010, when she complying to further actualise her ambition of congruous the Senator representing Anambra Central in the National Assembly. She is one internationally renowned Pharmacist, Pharmacologist, Erudite Scholar, Seasoned Administrator, and a unsubstantial leader. She has gained international remembrance and won hundreds of awards by reason of her work in pharmacology, public soundness and human rights.

That being uttered, one would have thought her brilliance and affecting leadership lifestyle would flicker with the calamity from workplace. Instead, Akunyili prepared herself with respect to the administrative position at NAFDAC ~ means of her four years stretch as Zonal Secretary of Petroleum Special Trust Fund (PTF), coordinating total projects in the five south-orient states of Nigeria (Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States).

Recall that as long as serving at PTF under President Muhammadu Buhari, she took indisposed and was given a scary diagnosis in a of medicine facility in Nigeria which necessitated her going to the United Kingdom in quest of treatment. The PTF gave her the therapeutical expenses, but upon arriving in the UK, she was told that she was misdiagnosed and that she would have ~ing all right without treatment. The late DG of NAFDAC did everything in the compass of her capacity for the good of Nigeria on the outside of strings attached. Before she became the Minister of Information and Communication, the creation had a very negative perception of Nigeria. This hard up image was dumbed upon Nigeria ~ means of the international community and further affirmed by the bad behaviour of our habitual politicians, political clergymen and clerics both within and outside the country. This disheartening recognition about Nigeria had gone unchallenged instead of so long that it is inception to stick in the consciousness of greatest in number people around the world that greatest in quantity Nigerians are criminals or fraudsters, however no one could do anything to repurchase the situation.

For this, when she became Minister in 2008, she lamented: “…At airports and other general places across the globe, whenever the verdant passport is sighted, we were asked to stand out of the true course for special screening. We are not likewise given the benefit of the irresolution. In the highly competitive world in that we live, Nigeria will have ~t any choice than to present a compelling and logical image to the world if she wants to exist taken seriously.”

Thus, on March 17, 2009, she joined President Goodluck Jonathan to launch a national campaign and unveiling of the slogan and logo in Abuja. According to her, “this campaign is out of the grasp of logo and slogan which are meant to answer as drivers. Thus, our hope is that the war cry, Nigeria – Good People, Great Nation, force of ~ help to inspire patriotism in us tot~y as we collectively tackle the challenges in front.”

At this juncture, the ACLNcan boldly characterize Dora Akuyili as an outstanding Nigerian whose records of worthy of great praise public service will for long subsist remembered as against our current submit to infrastructure public office holders, whose entire public work has little credit ~ the sake of the good of the general national. Akuyili was never hunted by anti-shoot agencies, neither was she accused through any segment of the country on the side of being politically, religiously or even tribally biased. Her duties targeted the general officer wellness of Nigerians. She neither led a flambouyantly lifestyle nor build rendering eye service. For Akuyili, it was for ever Nigeria first.

Her virtues as a chieftain are worthy of emulation for every public office holder in Nigeria, Africa and the unalloyed world. In some other parts of the earth, People like her are put in successi~ stamps and on statues at contrasted public places where the younger generations who were each too young to see her unsullied works or the generation yet still to appear as at that time, can go to see to be encouraged to lead selfless lifestyles. She saved lives and she instituted a theory that is still saving lives. Akuyili is a victor per excellence.

On this day, June 7, the ACLN enjoin young Nigerians to follow in the interest of Akuyili for the high understanding of responsibility and how she helped to hold the lives of Nigerians fighting killer diseases like bad air and tuberculosis with little more than sugar syrup and chalk tablets, cynically packaged to front like the real thing. Dora Akuyili, we convinced in the Nigeria you foresaw and resolution continue to hoist the flag of Nigeria in a true light across the globe because we convinced in selfless leaders like you. Live On Akuyili!
